Between home visits, monitoring our helpline, deliveries offood from our free food pantry, picking up donated food for the pantry, and ourmonthly food truck, Vincentians at Holy Family of Nazareth in Irving stayplenty busy. But what comes first is our discipleship. As Christ went to thepoor, we follow in his footsteps. As a small Vincentian community, we seek tosee the face of Christ in the poor and be the face of Christ for the poor.
And we are eternally grateful for the generous parishionersof Holy Family and the congregation at the University of Dallas’ Church of theIncarnation who support us with their donations. Without their help, we couldnot help the poor.
Being a Vincentian is a vocation to holiness, service to thepoor, and fellowship with other Vincentians. We follow Christ’s calling tohonor the dignity of every human person in our actions. When our neighbors andfriends in the community fall on hard times, we help regardless of the income, color, creed, or circumstances.
Our Active Members attend our meetings, share in thespiritual life of the conference, monitor calls to our helpline and, when we goon home visits, interact with the poor in crisis. In addition, our foodministry members deliver food, stock the shelves and freezers in our pantry, and keep it organized. We have a monthly food truck that provides free food tothe poor. Some of our members in the food ministry attend our meetings andshare in the spiritual life of our conference. We serve Spanish-speaking familiesas well, so we have a few bilingual members. And lastly, the members of ourSVdP Auxiliary are on call to help with an upcoming event or a special needlike moving a bed from the Thrift Store to an apartment.
