For many families, a single unexpected expense - a car repair, medical bill, or missed paycheck is enough to put housing at risk. Vincentians across North Texas encounter these realities every day through home visits.
At the Society of St Vincent de Paul North Texas, over 40 parish-based conferences secure local resources to respond to the needs of their community. Neighbors helping, neighbors.
However, the need is not evenly distributed across North Texas. A parish serving a less affluent neighborhood may exhaust its resources even while urgent needs, continue to arise.
The Hope Fund makes it possible that when one community runs short, the broader Vincentian network can respond.
Because where a family lives should never determine whether help is available.

Across North Texas, the gap between wages and housing costs continues to grow. A household that could afford an entry-level home a decade ago now needs dramatically more income. Rent remains well above pre-pandemic levels, while affordable housing has become increasingly scarce.
Daily, Vincentians meet families whose needs exceed the resources available within their local conference.
That's why the Hope Fund is needed now more than ever.
The Hope Fund is a dedicated account held by the Diocesan Council to assist conferences whose local demand for emergency assistance exceeds their fundraising capacity.
Council’s six District Presidents review and vote on applications that conferences make for emergency grants. Criteria center on a conference’s finances and record in helping the needy.

Research from the University of Notre Dame found that families receiving emergency financial assistance; even just $2,000 were:
- 81% less likely to become homeless within six months
- 73% less likely to become homeless within one year
A modest investment at the right moment can change the trajectory of an entire family.
The Hope Fund exists to make those timely interventions possible when Vincentians encounter families in crisis through a home visit.
Today, you can help ensure that when a Vincentian knocks on a neighbor's door, they have the resources to respond with hope, even when the needs of their community exceed what a single conference can provide.
Together, we can strengthen a network of compassion, so more families receive the help they need, regardless of where they live.

Our mission is to provide life-changing support to individuals and families in need, offering resources that bring stability and hope. Together, we can prevent homelessness, feed the hungry, and create sustainable futures.
